Johan Burger

Johan Burger, a dedicated Board Member and Vice Chairman at SAFMA, holds a BSc. Building Science degree from the University of the Witwatersrand. Johan's professional journey began with major Civil Engineering & Building Construction projects for a prominent blue-chip company. He later diversified into Project Management and Construction Management, overseeing substantial multimillion-Rand projects within the SADAC region. His expertise further extends to Property Development, Property Management, IFM, and Operational Management.

Before establishing his successful consultancy practice, Johan served in Executive Management, overseeing the full IFM and operational management for a multi-billion-rand industrial estate and mixed-use development. His earlier experiences include pivotal roles in large financial companies, contributing to the setup of data centres, office fit-outs, and telecommunications facilities.

As the founder of a Strategic Facilities Management Consulting practice focusing on CRES FM consulting, Johan has consulted for bundled services providers, major insurance companies, and significant players in mining and education.

Johan's goals for SAFMA showcase a commitment to professional recognition, membership growth, and collaboration with major industry bodies for the overall benefit of SAFMA members. He aims to develop a robust strategy for SAFMA, both in the short and long term, incorporating PESTLE reviews. Johan is dedicated to fostering closer collaboration with the Department of Public Works & Infrastructure (DPW&I) regarding facilities management, IFM, and PPP opportunities. He also seeks discussions with the DPW&I regarding various National Government Departments, creating more opportunities for IFM SAFMA members.

His focused dedication to SAFMA led Johan to resign from the SAPOA National Council and the Executive of the Chamber of Business. As Vice Chairman, he works closely with General Manager Marianne Botes and her team, also chairing the conference committee for the annual SAFMA conferences. Johan Burger's wealth of experience and strategic vision significantly contribute to SAFMA's initiatives.

Jocobeth Chikaonda

Jocobeth Chikaonda currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer at Imvelo Concession Company, a key partner with the South African Government in a public-private partnership. In this role, she oversees the design, construction, operation, maintenance, and financing of a sustainable green building for the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and the Environment. Jocobeth brings extensive experience, having previously served as an Investment Manager/Deal Transactor, Project Finance Advisor, and Financial Accountant in various sector-wide investment companies in South Africa. Her professional journey has taken her across Sub-Saharan Africa, engaging directly and indirectly in diverse business sectors.

Beyond her role on the SAFMA Board, Jocobeth has demonstrated leadership in both executive and non-executive capacities on numerous South African listed and unlisted company boards. Her involvement spans sectors such as Financial Services, Asset Management, Renewables, Facilities Management, Information Technology, and Manufacturing. On the SAFMA Board, she spearheads the portfolio focused on Professionalization. Together with the board, her goal is to elevate SAFMA to a full-fledged Council under the Council for the Built Environment, aiming to professionalize the Facilities Management industry.

Hendrik Wannenburg (Acting Director)

Hendrik Wannenburg is a creative and innovative Facilities Management and IT professional with 30 years of experience across a broad range of consulting, business analyst and management functions in industries such as Facilities Management, Telecommunications, Banking, IT, Petrochemical, Aerospace and the Military.

Hendrik has a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and has completed an Executive Development Programmed at Wits Business School. Hendrik’s previous employment was at Bidvest Facilities Management where he served as Senior Manager: Compliance for a period of 23 years. At Bidvest Facilities Management, he was responsible for the implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001, 14001 and OSHAS 18001 / ISO 45001 standards since 2008. He oversaw the development of an Integrated Management System that incorporates these standards and risk management principles into a single comprehensive system that integrates seamlessly into daily operations yet remains compliant to the individual standards. He was also Senior Manager: Building Management System Integration for the last 5 years of tenure at Bidvest Facilities Management. This responsibility ran concurrently with his responsibilities as Senior Manager: Compliance.

He is currently serving on ISO/SABS TC267, a Technical Committee that developed the South African National Standard (SANS 1752) for Facilities Management and contributes towards the ongoing development of the International Standards Organization (ISO) 41001 FM Standard.

He is also a Director at SAFMA (South African Facilities Management Association) and a lecturer at the Academy for Facilities Management (A4FM), where he is teaching FM Information Systems at NQF level 6 and Building Maintenance at NQF level 5.

Zadok Olinga

Sustainability

Zadok Olinga is a seasoned managing director and sustainability consultant with over 14 years of experience across the South African public and private sectors. He is the Managing Director of Ölinga, a specialist management consulting firm focused on energy efficiency, regulatory compliance, and the optimisation of tax incentives and grants. Over the course of his career, he has supported organisations in securing more than R3.5 billion in tax incentives and grant funding, while advising on strategic resource management across energy, water, and greenhouse gas emissions. Zadok is a SANAS-accredited Measurement and Verification (M&V) and Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) technical signatory and has led complex, high-value projects across infrastructure, mining, manufacturing, municipal, and commercial sectors.

In addition to his consulting work, Zadok served as President of the Southern African Energy Efficiency (SAEE) Confederation from 2019 to 2025, where he led an executive board, guided strategy, managed permanent staff, and actively engaged government and industry stakeholders to advance energy efficiency professionalisation. He holds a Master of Engineering (Electrical) degree (cum laude) from the University of Pretoria and is a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP®) and Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) through the Association of Energy Engineers. His background combines strong technical depth with governance, leadership, and stakeholder engagement expertise, positioning him as a respected leader in sustainability, energy management, and regulatory alignment.

Lerato Mompati

Lerato is an accomplished and dynamic professional with experience in project planning and management, construction management, property management, facilities management, and property development. She holds an MSc in Building specializing in Property Development and Management from the University of Witwatersrand with the focus on corporate real estate, with the research topic: “Methods of providing corporate real estate management services: An overview of South African corporations”. She holds a BSc degree in Construction Management from the same University, awarded in 2009.

She is currently studying towards her PhD at the University of Witwatersrand, focusing on asset management with the research topic: “Public Real Estate Asset Management strategies in South Africa”.

She is currently a lecturer and the course coordinator for the Post Graduate Diploma in Facilities Management at the School of Construction and Economics (University of Witwatersrand).

Sipho Mazibuko

Sipho Mazibuko is an accomplished South African executive and entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience spanning facilities management, financial services, and electrical engineering. As the Founder and CEO of FullServe Services, he has led the company since 2010, overseeing major corporate strategy, resource allocation, and overall operations within the facilities management industry, and positioning FullServe as a formidable and rapidly growing organisation that currently employs over 800 employees and continues to strengthen its footprint across the sector.

John R. Samuel (Acting Director)

John is a seasoned civil engineer with an extensive background in infrastructure projects and engineering management. After graduating from UCT with a Civil Engineering degree, he began his career in consulting, contributing to significant projects such as the Voelvlei pipeline and the Elsies River sewage pump station.

He later joined BP as Regional Engineering Manager, overseeing maintenance, capital projects, and safety operations for BP and Trek oil installations in the Southern Cape Region. His leadership extended to Johannesburg, managing fuel depot operations across South Africa and neighboring states.

John’s expertise grew when he took on the role of Business Unit Manager for BP Solar, developing solar energy solutions for sub-Saharan Africa. He successfully introduced innovative products like the Telelite home lighting system and solar-powered borehole pumps.

John's career also included leading large-scale projects such as BP’s retail rebranding and managing teams at Brilliant Signs and Flik Pest Control. In 1995, he joined Turner & Townsend, where he advised on infrastructure management, public-private partnerships (PPP), and compliance with the Public Finance Management Act.

Since retiring from Turner & Townsend in 2013, John has continued his work in energy management, joining J Maynard in the IPP office to manage cogeneration projects.

His expertise spans a range of core skills, including facilities management, project and contract management, technical maintenance oversight, and performance management. Throughout his career, Steven has worked in various sectors, including provincial and local government (COGTA, GDARD), education (Wits, Johannesburg, Limpopo universities), transport (Rea Vaya, Ekurhuleni BRT, SAA), telecoms (Vodacom, Telkom, AT&T), and industrial/energy (Eskom, Tongaat Hulletts, SA PVC Cables).

Nirvani Singh

Nirvani Singh, the Director of Marketing at SAFMA, brings over 30 years of experience in the Property Industry, with a significant focus on Facilities Management spanning 25 years. Her diverse background includes roles in telecommunications, media, retail, and government sectors. Nirvani is a highly qualified professional, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Quantity Surveying from the University of Cape Town, an Honours degree, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Stellenbosch. She is also recognised as an Accredited Facilities Professional.

In her role as Director of Marketing, Nirvani takes charge of planning and executing marketing strategies to promote SAFMA's mission, vision, and values. Her responsibilities include active involvement in developing creative campaigns and events aimed at raising awareness and funds for SAFMA. Additionally, she plays a key role in shaping SAFMA's brand identity and managing its reputation across various channels, including the website, social media, email, and print. Nirvani is also engaged in organizing SAFMA events, notably the annual conference, contributing to the association's overall growth and success.

Rowland Stanley Gurnell

Rowland, a distinguished board member of SAFMA and Director of the Regional Chapter, brings over 28 years of managerial experience within the engineering, facilities, and property sectors. With a rich educational background, including an M.B.A from the University of Leicestershire (2003), ILM 7 (2021), a Government Certificate of Competency (1993), a Wireman’s License (1992), a National Higher Technical Diploma in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (1991), and a Millwright Trade Test (1990), Rowland's expertise is unparalleled.

In 2018, Rowland joined the CBRE Excellerate group as the MD of CBRE Excellerate Facilities Management for Sub-Saharan African territories, showcasing his commitment to advancing the industry. In 2021, he assumed the role of CBRE Excellerate Africa Business Development Director. Rowland's leadership extends beyond his corporate roles; he serves as a SAFMA board member with the specific portfolio of Director of the Regional Chapter.

His professional journey reflects an exceptional understanding of construction technology and mechanical and electrical concepts, enabling him to develop the most cost-effective solutions for clients. With an in-depth comprehension of procedures and protocols across various African countries, Rowland efficiently navigates business development in diverse environments.

Sibusiso (Sbu) Nkabinde

Sibusiso (Sbu) Nkabinde, currently serving as the Group Executive: Operations and Sales at Servest, has been elected to the stakeholder management portfolio of the South African Facilities Management Association (SAFMA). With over 18 years of experience in relationship management, marketing, sales, operations management, and business development within the facilities management industry, Sibusiso brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role.

As a leader at Servest, one of Africa's largest black-owned facilities management companies, employing over 19,000 colleagues across 11,000 sites in eight African countries, Sibusiso has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a commitment to driving strategic objectives and business growth. His previous roles, including Group Operations Executive at Servest, Group CIO at Edcon, and positions at Standard Bank and BCX, have equipped him with a profound understanding of operational efficiencies, strategic networking, and enhancing customer experiences.

Sibusiso has completed his M.B.A at Henley Business School. He is enthusiastic about contributing to SAFMA's mission, leveraging his experience and skills to further the growth and success of the facilities management sector.

In his new responsibilities within SAFMA, Sibusiso expresses eagerness to collaborate closely with colleagues in the FM industry, aiming to identify ways to support each other in achieving shared objectives. His leadership, commitment, and strategic vision make him a valuable addition to SAFMA's stakeholder management portfolio.

Jeanette Manana

Jeanette Manana is a Divisional Head: Facilities Management for the South African Reserve Bank. she spent the first 10 years of her career in different government departments where she learned the primary functions of facilities management, security and occupational health and safety.

She exited the government space and then joined a parastatal in 2013 as a Deputy Director: Corporate Services, where she worked on more strategic objectives. She has implemented IT systems, delivered on a number of projects been a member of a number of Infrastructure and IT steering committees, including budget committees.

She has been in a Senior Management position for the past 6 years since 2016 in the Banking and Regulatory environment being the South African Reserve Bank as a Divisional Head: Facilities. She is responsible for 3 areas being Facilities Management, Property Management and Hospitality and Conferencing Services, responsible for 3 Managers and 103 staff members and all SARB Portfolio of properties. Through her desire to enhance a more governance experience, she took up the Board membership role in 2020 in the Standards Portfolio.

Nathanial Reddy

SMI, a multi-disciplinary firm, focuses on Turnkey Solutions, Transaction Advisory, and Development Management, boasting a project value exceeding ZAR250 billion. Nathanial also serves as Chairman of the South African Facilities Management Association ("SAFMA") and is a Director at the Global Facilities Management Association (GlobalFM).

Known for business acumen and integrity, Nathanial leads with strong interpersonal skills and organizational finesse. Despite his extensive background, he maintains a light-hearted approach, navigating challenges with ease.

Committed to sustainable development, Nathanial contributes voluntarily, holding critical roles in SAFMA, GlobalFM, and the South African Property Sector Charter Council. His expertise spans Transaction Advisory, Facilities Management, Turnkey Property Development, and more, making him adept at leading teams throughout complex built environment projects.

With a Bachelor of Science in Property Development and key memberships in professional societies like "ACPM" and "RICS," Nathanial also serves as the Executive Manager: Strategic Asset Development at PRASA, overseeing Rail Signalling and Infrastructure projects valued at ZAR30-40 billion. His role extends to the National Strategic Asset Development Rolling Stock Fleet Renewal Programme, involving the procurement of new rolling stock with a projected investment of ZAR120-130 billion.
